Can skin pigmentation be frozen away?

Doctor's Answer

There are different types of skin pigmentation, only some superficial pigmentation affecting the epidermis such as solar lentigine, seborrheic keratosis and dermatosis papulosa nigra are amenable to be “frozen” or “cauterized” away. Deeper skin pigmentation in the dermis such as Hori’s nevus will require specific lasers that penetrate deep into the skin without harming the overlying skin to remove. It is best to consult a doctor for a proper diagnosis of your skin pigmentation before proceeding to do any treatment.

Hope this helps!
