How can cherry angioma be removed and prevented?

Doctor's Answer

A cherry angioma is a benign collection of fine blood vessels under the skin and is associated with the ageing process. It usually starts appearing in the 30s-40s and tend to be multiple, affecting the trunk and limbs.

Currently, there are no methods of prevention.

The most common method of removal is by electrocautery under topical or local anaesthesia although treatment may only result in partial results and may leave a mild white scar. Many patients simply leave the cherry angiomas alone as they do not bleed or cause any symptoms.
