What are the differences between Differin gel and Differin cream?

Doctor's Answer

Both Differin gel and cream contain the same concentration (0.1%) of the active ingredient adapalene. Hence its efficacy/effectiveness is similar.

The gel form dries quicker and may be preferred in acne patients with oily skin.

The cream form is less drying and is less irritating, and may be preferred in patients with more sensitive skin.

Adapalene also has collagen-stimulating, anti-ageing properties and the cream form may be preferred when used for anti-ageing purposes in more mature skin, which tends to be more dehydrated and also more sensitive to drying skin products.
