In my many years of thread lifting, I have never had a case of “PDO thread rejection”.
PDO is a safe medical biopolymer that can be metabolised by our skin into water and carbon dioxide. It’s also used in sutures in surgical operations etc.
Do you mean that you have had thread extrusion or excessive inflammation from contact with PDO threads? That would be a totally different issue together.
Thread extrusion is due to poor anchorage of threads, or placement too near mobile areas like the peri-oral area. Excess inflammation is possible if:
- the thread is placed too superficially,
- if the quality of the thread is sub-standard,
- or if the patient has autoimmune conditions.
