How are sweaty feet treated?

Doctor's Answer

Sweaty feet may be treated in a variety of ways. The simplest is the use of topical anti-perspirant solutions. These solutions contain micro-crystals which block the sweat ductal openings and may reduce sweaty feet for a few hours.

For more more severe sweaty feet, injections of botulinum toxin often help and effects last several months. Treatment is safe although painful. Surgical options are generally not recommended for sweaty feet.

Some promising developments in using microwave (which is currently available to treat sweaty underarms) to treat sweaty feet may offer hope of more lasting treatment solutions in the future.
