How can I find the best non-comedogenic sunscreen that is suitable for acne-prone skin?

Doctor's Answer

Thanks for the question. It is difficult to recommend one sunscreen over another as the are no comparative studies showing that one sunblock is better than another and often there are individual variations in the preference of one sunscreen over another.

In general, I would recommend using sunscreens that have been specially formulated for acne prone skin from reputable brands and as you have done, purchase products that are labelled oil-free or non-comedogenic.

Often, the clogged pore themselves are not simply due to the product but the underlying skin tendency to develop comedones and clogged pores. This can be treated using creams that are comedolytic ie unclog the pores, like tretinoin cream or adapalene.
