How can I reduce the appearance of scars from my previous C-section?

Scars typically appear unsatisfactory in terms of either colour or thickness. In some cases, it could be both. They may also have symptoms such as recurrent itch or pain.

Firstly, I have to determine if the scar is a keloid or a simple hypertrophic scar prior to treatment.

Next, I will usually start with non-surgical management, with a series of a combination of steroid and botulinum toxin injections. This is applicable only if the scar is amenable.

Your doctor will suggest a surgical revision to you only if the scar is overly thick. Hence, it is important to let your doctor do a proper assessment before deciding your course of treatment.
