How can I regrow lost hair due to lichen planopilaris?

Doctor's Answer

Lichen planopilaris is a scarring process and hair loss is permanent. It occurs when lichen planus, a relatively common skin disease, affects an area of your skin where there is hair. Lichen planopilaris destroys the hair follicles and replaces it with scarring. Thus, hair regrowth does not occur once scarring occurs.

If you suspect you have lichen planopilaris, I strongly advise you to see a dermatologist for a proper assessment and treatment to reduce the inflammation and reduce the risk of further permanent scarring and hair loss.
