How can I treat skin tags?

Doctor's Answer

The small bumps on the face may be due to skin tags. Skin tags on the face are more common around the eyes and on the eyelids. Another condition that can present with a lot of small brownish bumps on the cheeks is dermatosis papulosa nigra.

For both these conditions, the bumps are easily removed by burning them with electrosurgery or laser, under topical anaesthesia. There may be some crusting after the procedure but this usually settles in a week or so.

It is however difficult to prevent them from developing and some peopĺe are more prone to developing these bumps than others.

You can see your dermatologist/doctor to confirm the diagnosis and for treatment.
