- Take your antibiotics as prescribed by your plastic surgeon and also apply the antibiotic cream as instructed.
- Ensure that you do not drink whilst you are on medication, as the alcohol will affect the efficacy of the medications.
- Wash your hands before and after doing any wound care to the incisions.
- If you are a smoker, now is a good time to consider stopping. I usually advise my patients to stop smoking for at least 2 weeks before surgery and until the wounds have fully healed.
- Get lots of rest.
- Have a healthy and balanced diet.
