How do dentists handle children refusing to open their mouths during treatment?

Doctor's Answer

Sometimes the dental appointment happens during their usual naptime or mealtime. I would avoid those times as they might be less open to learning something new and less likely to cooperate. The parents that struggle with this most often tell me that their child refuses to open their mouth and it's usually because they are not used to having their teeth brushed.
