Actually, acne treatment is primarily based on severity and previous response to medication and does not differ between the various age group especially in males. Pre-existing medical conditions in an adult e.g. liver disease, high cholesterol may preclude the use of some medication.
In females, if a hormonal cause is suspected, the doctor may use hormonal therapy to control the acne instead.
