How effective are chemical peels, e.g. trichloroacetic acid and bichloroacetic acid, at treating syringoma?

Doctor's Answer

Syringomas are incomplete ductal tumours located in the dermis (deeper layer of the skin).

As such, syringomas are best treated by focal and precise ablative modalities such as electrocautery and carbon dioxide laser.

Chemical peels, even with more potent acids such as trichloroacetic acid, are not recommended as chemical peels are simply not precise enough to remove the syringomas while sparing the surrounding tissue.
