How long after ReLEx® SMILE® can I start exercising again?

Doctor's Answer

Hi Chris

Generally, light exercise in clean environments can be resumed 1 week after ReLEx SMILE, as is also the case for other kinds of refractive surgery. This would include light weight training or jogging/cycling. If this is being done outdoors, it would be good to have shades or other eye protection in case of dust or branches by the roadside, etc

Water sports including swimming and contact sports are best avoided for one month. Even if there is no flap in SMILE surgery, it is best to avoid any kind of infection or injury in the early period after surgery.

Instructions and precautions may vary somewhat between clinics, so it would also be good to refer back to the instructions provided by your original doctor.
