Retin-A is a prescription drug in Singapore, and its suitability depends on your skin type. Wrong usage can result in skin irritation and damage, so you should visit a doctor before using the product.
Assuming that you have, and a doctor prescribed it to you for this purpose, here are some general guidelines for using Retin-A for anti-aging:
- Follow your doctor’s instructions. According to your skin-type, he will advise on frequency and dosage.
- As a general rule, you should use the lowest dosage, and build up. The most common strengths used in Singapore are 0.025%, 0.05%, 0.1% (strongest).
- Same for frequency, you can try 2x/week initially, then 3 times, then alternate days.
- Use only a pea-sized amount for your whole face.
- Avoid eyelids, corners of your mouth and lips. Skin’s thin there.
- Use only at night, as it causes photosensitivity. Also, light reduces its effectiveness.
- Wait at least 15 minutes after washing your face, before applying.
- Remember to use sunscreen during the day.
