Treatment to remove ingrown hairs include:
- Topical Vit A/ Retinoid creams to remove overlying dead skin cells
- Incision to release the ingrown hair
If inflammed, antibiotics may also be advised by your doctor.
For prevention, hair removal can be considered (as Dr Chua has pointed out), or try not to shave your hairs too close to the skin so that the risk of a hair getting caught in the skin as it grows out is minimised.
