Is Finacea cream (Azelaic acid) a good substitute for Retin A for pregnant ladies with acne?

Doctor's Answer

While azelaic acid is safe for use in pregnant ladies with acne, its use is not popular locally. This is because it causes a mild stinging sensation upon application to the skin in many patients and its benefits are generally mild. In my experience, topical erythromycin together with topical benzoyl peroxide is a great combination for the safe treatment of acne in pregnancy.
