The jaw relationship can be classed in three classes, class 1 (with minimal overbite and overjet), Class 2 (where the upper jaw protrudes out significantly) and Class 3 (where the lower jaw is forward of the upper jaw). The optional treatments depends on which.
There are really two main options, the traditional one is to do jaw surgery which is very invasive, painful, has a long recovery time and costly. If the jaw assymetry is significant, this option should be explored.
An aesthetic treatment should also be considered. This will not change the jaw relationship but it can significantly camouflage it. A successful treatment can be quite complex to achieve and we would advise you to find a very experienced aesthetic dentist.
There is a recording of a webinar, on this website, on dental veneers that you may want to have a look at to provide you with more information. https://www.human.com.sg/dental-veneers-dr-kevin-ong
In the webinar, we discuss how we were able to correct underbites without the need for any surgery.
