To see the results from using salicylic acid, how long should I wait?

Doctor's Answer

Salicylic acid penetrates the oil glands well and works as a mild keratolytic (removal of dead skin cells) and has mild anti-bacterial effects. Hence it acts to clear blackheads and whiteheads, the precursors of inflamed acne and also to treat mildly inflamed acne.

Often it will take 4-8 weeks of application before the results of salicylic acid may be seen.
