There can be multiple causes of your itch, from the fairly commonly seen hives (or urticaria, in medical speak), to eczema and contact dermatitis (ie your skin is allergic to some sort of product you use).
And yes, for cases of bad itch/rashes, a dermatologist is the best doctor for you to see as that is their area of specialty.
