What are possible causes of chronic lower back ache in a weightlifter?

Doctor's Answer

The possible causes include protrusion of the disc at your lower back.

The disc functions as a shock absorber in the spine, withstanding physical loads while allowing mobility and flexibility of the spine.

The other possible cause is that you may have a break in the bone of the lower back (called pars interarticularis).

Weight-lifters tend to have slightly higher risk of having the break in the pars interarticularis.
