The more common symptoms of acid reflux are heart burn and regurgitation. Heard burn refers to the hot or "burning" feeling behind the chest wall especially if it happens after an episode of regurgitation; which is the sensation of food content flowing backwards from the stomach into the oesophagus. Most digestive specialists accept the above as hallmark symptoms of acid reflux.

However, there are other more subtle symptoms for reflux including a persistent cough, throat discomfort and increase saliva formation in your mouth which may be the only manifestations of acid reflux. If your problem does not resolve over 2-4 weeks. you should consider seeing your family doctor to get a proper diagnosis.
