When is surgery required for temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJ)?

Doctor's Answer

Please don't consider surgery for TMJ issues!

TMJ disorders are a misnomer. The condition is a result of high-stress levels and our normal reflex response to this stress. TMJ issues are, therefore, a result of hyperfunction. The joints and muscles are just symptoms.

We recommend stress management and conservative prevention therapy to manage the symptoms.
