Which are the best laser treatments to get rid of rosacea?

Doctor's Answer

There are 2 major components to Rosacea that are managed differently.

A. Inflammatory component. This presents with red bumps on the skin. The inflammatory component may be controlled with topical metronidazole (Rozex), topical ivermectin (Soolantra), oral doxycycline and oral isotretinoin depending on severity, tolerability and prior response.

B. Vascular component. This presents as diffuse redness, flushing and fine dilated blood vessels on the face. The vascular component may be treated with topical bromonidine (Mirvaso) and light-based devices such as the IPL and the 595nm pulsed-dye laser.

Avoiding aggravating factors such as UV radiation and spicy foods will also help control the activity of Rosacea.

Rosacea is the chronic relapsing skin inflammation and current treatments highlighted above seek mainly to control the condition and prevent flares rather than cure/rid the condition.
