Can my 4 year old child take Ibuprofen for sore throat if he doesn’t have a fever?

Yes the ibuprofen can still be continued to help with the throat pain.

Children are so lovely, when they are not sick. But when they are sick with throat pain, there just doesn't seem to be a good way to completely treat it. You could try the following which seems to help with my child.

  1. They are really distractable. Playing, singing and talking to them and holding them is pretty useful to soothe their pain.
  2. Cold stuff. Ice kacang, ice creams, ice sticks and similar things are pretty helpful.
  3. 1/2 teaspoon added with a 200ml of water can be used to drink to soothe the throat, as well as some fruit juices such as orange/honey/lemon, or mix them all up.
  4. There are commercial throat sprays that sometimes can help, only if your child allows you to spray in their throat.
  5. But otherwise, it's a waiting game. It will definitely go away, after some time. (Caveat: unless it is a strep throat).
