How much do doctors earn at different stages of their career in Singapore?

Doctor's Answers 2

Good to know you are thinking ahead for your future - always good to plan.

I think the simple answer is that as a doctor, you would hope that you never go hungry! While you might not become a millionaire from working in healthcare, it should cover the bills and enable you to have a comfortable standard of living.

Salaries depend on a number of factors, including:

1. Your seniority

2. Your specialty

3. Whether you work in public or private institutions

4. Your contribution to the institution - i.e. additional roles

5. Your contribution to the local community

6. What you negotiate with your institution

While it is certainly important to know that you are being paid fairly and equitably for the work you undertake, most of us enter healthcare from an original desire to help people. This is the most important thing to remind oneself of and it is important not to lose sight of this.

Great question and something important to consider when choosing professions, but only small part of the story when it comes to a healthcare career.
