To list every single risk and complication of dental implant surgery is beyond the scope of this session. But I am happy to mention some of the more common ones here:
- Failure of osseo-integration of the dental implant due to poor healing or rejection
- Injury to nerves, soft tissues and other anatomical structures around the surgical site
- Gum recession or bone recession around the implant with time
- Infection of the gum and soft tissue around the implant ( peri-implantitis)
- Breakage or fracture of the implant, implant abutment or implant crown
