What should I do about Epstein Pearls in my baby's mouth? (photo)

Doctor's Answer

NO treatment is necessary for a true confirmed diagnosis of Epstein pearls/gingival cysts. These are harmless overgrowths of the cells that are involved in tooth formation.

These usually disappear without any treatment within 6 months.

Your baby should be assessed to see if the white nodules could be natal teeth that can be present in babies. These only need to be removed if it interferes with breastfeeding.
